Windows 10: How do I adjust monitor settings?
Last Updated 4 years ago
This article will go over how to adjust multiple monitors that are connected to windows via the windows settings as windows allows the use of adjusting which monitor is considered primary, monitor resolution, and how the mouse cursor navigates between multiple monitors.
Step 1.) Log into your pc
Step 2.) Right-Click on your mouse in an empty space on your windows background

Step 3.) Left-Click on your mouse, "Display settings"
Step 4.)

(This is the display settings on windows 10, and the displays 1 & 2 are interactable)
Step 5.) To select which monitor you want to host all your files on your desktop select monitor box 1 or 2 and then scroll down to the check box called, "Make this my main display". Your icons will move to that screen respectively.
Step 6.) To adjust Monitor Resolution select box 1 or 2 respectively to your monitors and then select the drop down bar under "Display resolution" to select the most recommended resolution for your monitor.

Step 7.) To adjust multiple monitors for the mouse cursor, go toward the top where you can see "Rearrange your displays", and select "Identify" button under the two boxes called, 1 & 2.

(by selecting "Identify" this will tell you which monitor is considered 1 or 2 from the "black box" in windows in which this is a reflection to how you see your monitors physically & how the cursor will move between each display, sometimes you may have 3 or 4 depending on your workstation setup.

Step 8.) To rearrange your monitors, Left-Click box 1 or 2 and hold your mouse click then drag how you want them to be arranged. This will be how you can move your cursor between monitors so if you have your displays beside each other depending on which one is 1 or 2 will depend how you move your cursor in-between 1 or 2.
Step 9.) Select "Apply" to keep those settings or select "Cancel" to revert the changes to your monitors arrangement.
Per monitor rearranging example:

(As you can see I rearranged my monitor 1 to the corner of monitor 2, this will allow me to move my mouse cursor to the upper left-hand corner of monitor 1 to get to monitor 2.)
This concludes showing how to move select the primary monitor, adjust display resolutions, and to arrange multiple monitors.
