Frequently Asked Question
In an effort to keep all systems current and secure, the IT Department has a predefined patch schedule. This schedule is used to update various software and operating systems. The most prominent software is the Windows operating systems and Microsoft's release schedule. This schedule is a guideline and IT reserves the right to distribute patches at anytime in the event of a serious security threat to the college.
IT requests that users make every effort to prepare for these times by making sure all applications are closed but your computer is left on.
Patches applied to servers usually require a re-boot which will cause service outages. If you experience a service outage during these times, you should wait until the maintenance window is over and try the request again. Then if it still does not work, you can open a ticket.
