Using Software Center to Install Programs
The Software Center is the official repository for software supported by WNCC's IT Department. Any software you are looking for should be sought from here first, before contacting the IT Department.
Step 1.) Search for software center on your computer by left clicking the windows icon for start menu.
Step 2.) After Software Center opens, here we have Applications, Updates, Operating System, Installation status, Device compliance, and Options.
Applications.) In Software Center, we have “Applications” toward the upper right hand corner, and this is where we have approved software usage for the entire institution.
Operating systems.) In “Operating systems”, we are allowing users to reimage this computer. It is critical to understand that these reimage’ s will wipe your computer; therefore, please be sure to back up your data to the OneDrive and/or the J drive before using. Since this is critial this will be only by request and/or approval.
Installation Status.) In “Installation Status”, this will allow the user to see what exactly they have installed on this specific computer.
Device compliance.) In “Device compliance”, this allows the user to see how well it is checking in with our servers to make sure they are up to date, and that new software will be continuously being populated under, “Applications”.
Options.) In “Options”, this allows the user to make changes to their settings for when software should be allowed to install after business hours.
If there is an issue with using Software Center, please consult the IT department, and place an IT ticket.
To place a ticket in software center please make sure that you have the latest agent installed on your machine, and you should see our "IT Help Request" under the "Options" menu.
